Guardians
Situated in many places of the gallery, the sculptures of noble guardians smile in a friendly way to all the guests. There are five of the guardians and they symbolise Gdansk history:
- Hermes – in tribute to the guardian of merchants, travellers and thieves
- Kaper – to the glory of those who brought goods to Gdansk over the sea
- Tryton – to the guard of the overseas treasures hidden in Madison
- Flis – to the memory of those who brought goods for exchange in Gdansk by the Vistula river
- Jantar – to the glory of our Gdansk "gold" - amber
